Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

By creating an account or using Pebble, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. You must be at least 18 years old to use Pebble.

2. What Pebble is

Pebble is an AI-powered social connector. You describe what you are looking for in natural language, our AI extracts your intent, and our matching engine finds compatible people nearby. Use cases include finding activity partners, event companions, service providers, and more.

3. Your account

• You sign in through Google OAuth. You are responsible for your account security.
• Your username must be 3 to 20 characters: lowercase letters, numbers, and underscores only.
• Usernames cannot be changed after onboarding.
• One account per person. Do not create fake or duplicate accounts.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Harass, threaten, or abuse other users
• Zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE): any content or behavior that sexualizes, exploits, or endangers minors is prohibited, is removed, and is reported to the relevant authorities. Our full standards: Child Safety Standards.
• Post false, misleading, or deceptive profile information
• Use Pebble for illegal activities or to facilitate harm
• Spam, solicit, or send unsolicited commercial messages
• Attempt to manipulate the matching system or AI
• Scrape, reverse-engineer, or interfere with the service
• Impersonate another person or entity

5. Matching and proposals

Pebble uses AI and algorithmic matching to suggest connections. Matches require mutual consent through a two-phase approval process: the candidate accepts first, then the proposer confirms. Pebble does not guarantee the quality, safety, or outcome of any match.

Proposals expire automatically if not acted upon. Group proposals use a vote-based join system with automatic timeouts.

6. Safety

Pebble provides safety features including post-meetup check-ins and the ability to block users. Additional safety tools (such as safety contacts) are planned. However, Pebble is not responsible for the actions of other users. Exercise caution when meeting people in person. Meet in public places and inform someone you trust.

7. Content

You retain ownership of content you create (profile text, messages, photos). By using Pebble, you grant us a license to store, display, and process your content as necessary to provide the service. All content is sanitized for security. Malicious content (scripts, injection attempts) will be stripped. Sensitive personal data is encrypted at rest in our database.

8. AI disclaimer

Pebble uses AI (Anthropic Claude) to process your requests and facilitate matching. AI responses are generated and may not always be accurate. Pebble is an assistant, not a substitute for your own judgment. We do not guarantee AI accuracy or availability.

9. Rate limits

To ensure fair use, Pebble applies rate limits to API requests. Excessive or automated usage may result in temporary restrictions.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. You may delete your account at any time. Upon termination, your data will be removed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

11. Disclaimers

Pebble is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service, perfect matches, or the behavior of other users. Use Pebble at your own risk.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Pebble and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to interactions with other users.

13. Changes

We may update these terms at any time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be communicated through the app.
